Leipzig and Dresden 2010

Students from 9 schools in the Leipzig area and from 5 schools in Dresden and Pirna put up an incredible event on May 7th (Leipzig) and May 10 (Dresden). A total of 2000 students ran more than 8000 kilometer for the rainforest of western Canada. This equals the distance between Victoria on Vancouver Island and St. John in Newfoundland. Some students were running distances from 15 to 38 laps at 400 meters per lap.

Six students and two elders of the Cowichan Tribes visited Germany for the runs and gave the German students an insight of indian culture. This resulted in an interesting inter cultural exchange.

The funds raised will directly create conservation areas in the rainforest and also help with youth-conservation projects. You can get an impression of the runs in May 2010 at our picture gallery or by watching our Take a Walk for the Wild film.

Please read also the coverage of canadian media (see "Wisdom seekers walking for wild" and "German trip inspires a wild walk") about the visit of the Cowichan in Germany and how this resulted in the Duncan wildernesss run "Take a Walk for the Wild".
