In the wilderness lies the preservation of the world.

Countdown
For days, I have been waiting for this day to come. I have been counting the nights until we finally set out on our adventure tomorrow. There has not been much time to dream, though. You can barely see my room – everything is covered in travel equipment. Sea sack, hiking boots, camping dishes, plant identification books and many other things are piled up everywhere. I check my packing list one last time. Everything is packed. I am ready!
The last days have been busy. Us environmental ambassadors helped at the Walk for the Wild. A great opportunity to motivate the runners and thus protect more ancient forest.
I can hardly bear the excitement. What is it going to be like, among giant trees in the remote wilderness? I look at the plants in my identification book about the Northern American flora and wonder if I will be able to recognize them out there in nature a couple of days from now.
The butterflies in my stomach makes me feel like an adventurer of the past who is about to embark on an adventure. I am filled with nervousness, insecurity and an incredible excitement all at the same time.
