2011 International Student Exchange

Wisdom Seekers – Knowledge Keepers

Wilderness International is a Canadian/German organization committed to the protection and preservation of threatened ecosystems around the world. Together with residents and local institutions of vulnerable areas, concepts for sustainability are developed and implemented. We are firmly committed to the ideal that children and youth are our most valuable resource and our best hope for the future! In pursuit of this ideal, we have initiated a unique and exciting International Student Exchange Program designed to both empower and educate interested and committed youth from Canada and Germany. In this spirit, a partnership has been formed with Cowichan Tribes creating an opportunity for students from the Cowichan First Nation to further their knowledge of environmental issues facing the planet and their region through active participation.

The 2011 International Student Exchange aims to educate Cowichan and German youth about land use and conservation issues so they can better help to preserve their traditional territories for future generations.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore the wisdom of our elders and will share in the traditional teachings – snuw'uy'ulh – that will help us protect our land and cultural practices. Our Youth will develop their traditional knowledge, leadership skills and self awareness through experiential journeys on the land and through a cross-cultural exchange with students from Germa
