The foundation, together with Wilderness International Canada, purchased the rainforest area before the assignment of individual sponsorship plots.
Protection
The purchase of the rainforest guarentees long lasting conservation. Thanks to the foundation, this land has now become a protected area, which has ensured it for future generations. Due to the nature of this dual purchase means that the rights of the land belong to both Germany and Canada. As a foundation, we could resell the land, dry out the moor, clear cut the forest or carry out similar such damaging actions. It is your partnership in the purchase of this land that guarentees the untouched status of the land remains.

Cooperation with the Cowichan Tribes
The Rainforest-conservation project has been jointly undertaken with the Cowichen Tribes, the largest Native people of west coast Canada. Hwietum Fred Roland from the Cowichen Tribes coordinates the project for Wilderness International Canada, as Director of culture. He ensures that our joint venture is in the best interest of the First Nations people. It is through the land purchase that the partnership with these indigenous people is financed.
Responsibility of the sponsor
As sponsor you have taken on a financial responsibility for the conservation of our planet. This does not mean however that you take on a legal responsibility too. Wilderness International is responsible for the purchase and maintenance of the conservation area. The buying of the land is a one-time purchase and no further installments are necessary.
Your sponsored area on the internet
Every sponsor will recieve a certificate and individual sponsorship code. This code will enable you to make name changes to your assigned piece of land. You will also recieve the GPS coordinates detailing its exact location. This ensures that each piece of land is only assigned to one sponsor. Wilderness International guarantees the protection of your personal data and will not pass it on to third parties.

Acquisitions made on behalf of Wilderness International Germany: The foundation Wilderness International is a registered charity as of 21st December 2009. Its accounting is strictly controlled by the foundation board and finance office. The legal juristiction lies in Dresden.
