Achieving more together

Deutsch-Kanadische Gesellschaft e.V.

Since 1951, the Deutsch-Kanadische Gesellschaft e.V. (DKG) has been a charitable organization to promoate the economic, cultural and human relations between Germany and Canada. A major focus area for the organization is education of youth. In cooperation with the embassy of Canada in Berlin, since 1964 the DKG has organized a very successful work and travel program for German students. As a specialist with Canada as its only target country, DKG is one of the most experienced organizations in this area. So far, about 3,000 students have taken part on work-study or internship programs offered by the DKG.

The second core area of DKG is networking of companies and institutions within the German-Canadian economic world. One of the major events is the interdisciplinary conference Forum @ Canada Haus, which takes place every Spring in Berlin. The forum shines a light on current german-canadian themes from different angles.

A third building block is the active creation of Canadian cultural life in Berlin, for example with concerts, exhibitions, presentations and discussion events having to do with Canada.

Wilderness International joined the Deutsch-Kanadische Gesellschaft in 2016 and is therefore a part of this valuable network of enthusiastic Canada-lovers. Through the reciprocal participation and involvement in events and presentations as well as close cooperation on public relations, we are able to create important contacts and cooperation possibilities. In 2018, for example, DKG supports our Wilderness Team Challenge.
