In the wilderness lies the preservation of the world.
Henry David Thoreau
The Experiment – Day 13
Five of us have decided to feed ourselves for an entire day only with things that can be found in nature. When we get up in the morning, we are not particularly hungry. We are motivated, and for breakfast we eat some berries we find near the camp.
The day passes, we clean up and slowly start to pack our things in preparation for our departure. The final videos are shot, and in the meantime we even get to catch and eat some fish. But at some point, our hunger wins out, so together we decide to join the others for dinner.
Before that, though, we go into the forest again. In the middle of the trees that stretch into the sky I think of what has changed. Our time in the wilderness is almost over. We have all become calmer, more attentive, more observant. We notice more things that happen around us. I listen to the river mumbling and enjoy the view of the steep cliffs and the last rays of sun. This is how I say goodbye to this wonderful place.
